 December 19, 2025

Wow, we cannot believe it’s already winter break. It’s been a very busy and quick December. We loved seeing everyone’s spirit this week through dressing up and caroling! We wish everyone a happy holiday, and we will see you in the new year!

Highlights of the Week:

  • ELAL – Students worked to finish their novel studies this week. If your child did not finish, it will be sent home over winter break. We also spent time researching various winter holidays from around the world and students made posters for their specific holiday. Ask your child which holiday they researched!
  • Math – We spent time learning about factors this week. We also talked about prime numbers to help us with prime factorization after the break.
  • Science – Space Unit - Students did a fantastic job building their science projects this week. If your child did not finish or forgot their model at home, please feel free to email a picture of their project

How you can support at home:

  • Homework – Unfinished novel studies were sent home, please ask your child if they need to work on it. Some students can also work on their short story through google classroom

Learning Intention of the Week – Science Projects

Grade 5 – Astronomical Phenomena Triorama

Grade 6 – Space Tech Model

Students in grade 5/6 finished their space units through a culminating task where they built a 3D model to represent one of the main components of their space unit. Students researched, designed, and then built their models to show their understanding. To accompany their models, students wrote a written explanation to further explain their technology or phenomena.

Learning Intention of the Week – Once Upon a Snowman Winter Concert

We are learning to perform as a musical ensemble by singing, playing instruments, and creating a coordinated lightshow for our winter concert, Once Upon a Snowman. This supported our ability to work together, follow musical cues, use rhythm and timing, and express ourselves through movement and music while performing for an audience.
