Learning Intention of the Week – Representing / Summarizing
Students represented two important scenes from our read aloud, Barren Grounds by creating detailed visualizations of the main character Morgan facing a challenge. They used evidence from the text to guide their representations and ensure accuracy. Students then wrote clear summaries of each scene, focusing on the most important events and key details. Through this task, students strengthened their visualization and summarizing skills to deepen their comprehension of the novel.

Learning Intention of the Week – Good Luck Knot

In celebration of Lunar New Year, students explored the tradition of creating good luck knots, learning about their cultural meaning as symbols of prosperity and good fortune. Throughout the process, students carefully followed detailed, step-by-step instructions to tie a complex knot. This hands-on activity strengthened their fine motor skills, focus, and perseverance, while encouraging patience and attention to detail. By combining cultural learning with practical skill development, students deepened their understanding of Lunar New Year traditions while building confidence in their ability to complete challenging tasks.
